A second new Debian distribution in not so many monthes. Check out the screenshot of desktop after running the installation ISO. Debian Solaris Now that Xen 2.0 and 3.0 are running on various gateways here, I hope to see Xen support for this distribution soon, so that we can start running some services on Solaris. The idea of Debian package mangement, and a Sun kernel might help bridge the gap for enterprises that are still weary of getting away from a commercial operating system. If/When Sun gets their licensing straightened out, this could be big. It would not surprise me if this could become a fast growing community for enterprise Solaris lovers, who are looking for a good reason to embrace Debian packaging and their personal hardware.

More Tools for GNU/Solaris

Now that the bounty for packaging OpenOffice.org2 on GNU/Solaris (Nexenta) is up to $200, it should be interesting to see what sort of bounty packaging the recently free Java Enterprise System and N1 Management software will draw. It seems much has changed since I dropped in on GNU/Solaris a month or so ago, so I expect to have this distro running by the end of week if it is as good as it looks. The real question is how soon will I be able to run all operating systems under the Xen Hypervisor.
