jumped out at me, but alas, it is still a little unrefined.
One look at the PowerDNS http://wiki.powerdns.com/projects/trac/ and I was fairly confident I had found the answer to all my problems. The Trac frontend itself seems to be a good indication of best-of-breed toolsets driving development, which I find most attractive when considering adoption of a new tool.
